Pad printing machines for the pharmaceutical industry

Round pieces of plastic are to be printed with a two-colour scale. As well as boasting a high hourly output with 2,100 cycles, the repeat precision of the pad stroke is also crucial for a consistently precise printed image. The print heads are built into a manufacturing cell which is adapted in terms of materials and design to meet the requirements of the final customer and which will later be equipped with additional handling equipment.

Implementation

The existing construction of the TC 80-100 T/Servo was modified in terms of materials and detail solutions in conjunction with the final customer. The print head has been equipped with special devices which catch any drips of lubricant (guide rails, pad cleaning, pad stroke guide shaft). All components are protected against corrosion, i.e. coated in stainless steel, anodized aluminium or varnished.

Pad cleaning unit

The TAMPONCOLOR TC 80-100 T/Servo is equipped with a pad cleaning unit; the cleaning cycle can be adjusted via the control panel on the control system according to the customer’s requirements. Here, special cleaning tape with a plastic core is used instead of the usual cleaning tape with a cardboard core. Parameters relevant to printing can be adjusted via the display on the front panel in set-up mode.

A two-colour print is achieved in combination with a second print head. Both printing units are operated via a common central control system which in turn receives a start and stop signal from a main control panel at the customer end. Each pad printing machine is mounted onto a cross support which provides the machine’s position via the main operating panel for the entire system and which is therefore easy to adjust.

Our pad printing solution

By using the TC 80-100 T/Servo pad print heads, the customer acquires a proven and reliable printing unit which is tailored to his or her needs on site during the layout phase for the entire system. This ensures that set-up times are kept to a minimum when production occurs during a multi-shift operation.
